Choir- A Singing School
We are very proud to be a 'singing' school with choirs which now total over 100 children. We have 50 children in the Year 2 - 3 choir and over 75 members in the Year 4 - 6 choir who rehearse weekly with our Leader of Music.
Recently, the choir was asked to take part in a local community event on Mental Health Awareness Day.
In October 2023, 1500 ceramic flowers were planted at The Horton Arts Centre in Epsom to commemorate the 9000 people who had been resident in one of the psychiatric hospitals.
At one time, the Epsom Cluster was the largest in Europe and, as such, it forms a very important part of our local history.
The day began with the choir singing in the field adjacent to the now derelict and overgrown Horton Cemetery. They later led a procession of witness and walked a mile to the Horton Arts Centre.
Sixty of the ceramic flowers had been made over the previous year by children from St Joseph's, as part of their Mental Health Awareness learning.
We were very proud of the flowers they created.
The children were delighted to be part of this very important local history event.
