St Joseph's loves to celebrate! Our calendar is packed with joyful moments when the community comes together. It lifts the spirit to see everyone engaging and contributing.
Culture Celebration days
We have 48 different cultural backgrounds represented at St Joseph's. We marked 2023-2024 as our Year of Culture. It was a fabulous success and now continues into 2024-2025.
We launched with a Culture Fair, attended by so many of our families.
Since then, each national day starts with a welcome at the gate of music from that country. Children wear their national colours of national dress and speak to their classes, sharing their heritage and culture.
One parent wrote,
"Celebrating children's heritage and giving them the opportunity to feel included, seen and valued is so important to them, especially when they come from a background that may not be hugely represented within their school or local community.
These celebration days will mean more than you may ever know to the children and will go a long way towards helping them to develop a sense of belonging and a positive self-identity. "
Children leading Children
Children take on leadership roles, in class and across the school, often elected by their classmates to represent them. They are proud to have been chosen.
School Council The school council gather the views of all the children and make changes to improve the school. Recently, they decided to create a quiet area where children could go to be calm and to resolve any small disagreements that they might have had with their friends. The area has already been incredibly popular. |

Class Ambassadors The ambassadors are elected by their classmates . They deliver campaign speeches and then all children go through the voting booths to cast their votes! Those elected are the front face of welcome for the school. One of their main roles is to speak to visitors to the school, including prospective parents. |

Busy Bees The Busy Bees are students who have been elected to help with administrative tasks like delivering messages and handling simple office duties. The Busy Bees are an integral part of the running of the school and are a great help to the office staff. |

Sports' Leaders /Fitness Friends There are two sports leaders elected for each class. Our sports leaders are passionate about sports and help by encouraging participation, helping to manage sports events, setting up equipment for PE lessons and fostering a positive and inclusive sports culture. |

Eco Warriors Each year, two Eco Warriors are elected in each class and take on the role of promoting environmental sustainability and awareness within their school and community. This role involves leading and participating in various initiatives aimed at reducing the school's ecological footprint and encouraging others to adopt eco-friendly practices. |

Prayer Leaders Our prayer leaders play an important role in the whole school and year group liturgies. Our prayer leaders also help to promote and lead lunchtime prayer groups and activities. They are part of the Chaplaincy Team and take a lead role in the prayer life of the school. |
Grandparents Day
For many years, we have invited grandparents to spend time with their grandchildren. Children are thrilled to welcome their family members into school. Annually, we can expect 150+ grandparents to attend.
They have a cup of tea with cake while reading with their grandchildren. Next, their grandchildren take them on a tour of the school, showing their favourite places. After that, the children attend a liturgy with their grandparents.
